Happy Record Store Day!

I now have the power to command you to attend record store day.  Be there!

Record Store Day first began in 2007, but wasn’t officially established until April 19, 2008 when Metallica officially declared it so with a bad-ass performance at Rasputin Music in San Francisco.  And now the nation celebrates every third Saturday of April as Record Store Day.

This is one day out of the year is when independent record stores have historically banded together to show support for artists, fans, and the music industry to some extent.  In response to the support, artists have started to release special B-side material.  These are the official releases for the day.

One such band having a special release is The Head and The Heart.  They’re re-releasing their self titled debut album and debuting a new music video for “Rivers and Roads” (which is non-embeddable, I tried).  To download two tracks of their album, please visit their official website.

And don’t forget to check the official Record Store Day website for a participating record store near you.
