Wishing You The Best

SOTD: ‘Wishing You The Best’ by Campfire OK.

OK, so this track isn’t even on the album. Nevertheless, it deserves recognition. Why? Well of course because of the song. But also (And I know I say this time and time again.) the music video! I couldn’t even fathom walking in on diners and launching into an impromptu song, but they did. This happens to be their trademark. Genius.

Campfire OK is currently touring the world behind the release of their debut album, Strange Like We Are. It dropped February 2011 and is available on iTunes.

The Suburbs

Is this the gift the Valentine fairy had in the works for me the entire time?  An indie band winning Album of the Year?  Oh LIFE!  You know me better than I know myself!

I’m trying to get the right info and from my research I’m determining that Arcade Fire was the only nominee not signed to a major music label (via Huff Post), and I think, the first and only indie (not signed to a major music label) band have won Album of the Year at the Grammy’s.

Listen to the entire album here (via You Tube).

L’Eclipse

Song of the Day: L’Eclipse by Mathieu Chedid & Sean Lennon.

This is a French re-make(?) by M. Chedid, of Sean Lennon’s “Parachute” off of “Friendly Fire“.  For some reason Lennon decided he also wanted to be a part of the re-make process for the poppy song.

I can’t decide which version I like best.  Both probably.  They each stand alone, especially since one of them is in a different language.

“Friendly Fire” is Lennon’s second studio album and my favorite of all his works.  It was released in 2006.

Wait For Me

Song of the Day: Wait For Me by Sean Lennon.

This is one of my favorite songs on Friendly Fire.  I’ll admit I love the entire album and it’s difficult to pick a favorite song because many sound similar.  I know that’s harsh, but it’s how I feel.
